Canterbury Christmas Market

A charming market with wooden chalets dotted throughout the historic Canterbury city centre, including near the Cathedral. You can find unique gifts, including local handmade artisan products, delicious festive food, and warm drinks.

Why It’s Great: The historic backdrop makes it incredibly atmospheric and you get to see the Canterbury Cathedral up to close for free as normally it’s part of the entry ticket to the Cathedral. It’s a perfect place for Christmas shopping and soaking up the city’s festive vibes.

Christmas at Scotney Castle: ‘Cover to Cover’

Scotney Castle is always on my list of places to visit before Christmas. This year, the Mansion House at the Scotney Castle grounds is decorated with a “Cover to Cover” theme, where each room is inspired by classic literature (like A Christmas Carol and Peter Pan).

Each room has a christmas tree with a different theme and each room is decorated to tell a story. All of this is done by the staff and volunteers and each year I admire their dedication to make the festive experience at Scotney Castle so beautiful and very different to anywhere else.

Why It’s Great: The house decorations are so beautifully made and you can also visit during their special ‘Late Nights & Lights’ events to see the mansion glowing and toast marshmallows.
