Having lived in Kent most of my adult life I’ve spent many weekends visiting almost every farmers market in the county. It is still a real treat to find something new, like a jar of locally made honey or a seasonal snack I haven’t tasted before.

For a long time, I actually attended local markets as a stallholder selling my own artisan bread and chocolates, but now I get to visit as a “tourist.” It’s a lovely change to be on the other side of the table!

There is no better way to experience the true flavour of Kent than by wandering through historic market squares on a crisp morning and tasting locally produced food. In this guide, I’ll take you on a tour of the best stops for artisan cheeses, fresh-baked sourdough, and seasonal produce straight from the farm.

There are over 40 farmers’ markets in Kent held weekly, fortnightly, or monthly across the county. On average, farmers’ markets usually have between 15 and 25 stallholders at each market, but smaller village markets might have a slightly smaller number of stalls.
